Do we have to keep our paper forms on file? NO (Only if required for legal reasons.)

Can I use the same PEN to fill in different types of forms before docking? YES

Does the SmartWare PEN have to be trained for each user? NO

Can more than one person use the same SmartWare PEN? YES

When filling-in a form, do I have to print, or can the PEN recognize cursive writing? The SmartWare PEN will recognize any handwriting, as long as it is legible to the human eye.

Can I use my current forms? YES (Each form used must be PEN enabled before use.)

What does it mean to be PEN enabled? We take your current form and print a special pattern of millions of dots that are barely visible to the human eye onto the paper. Then, your form as it is currently used is printed on the paper.

Can I print my own pen-enabled forms? YES (You may order forms printed by us, or purchase a license to print your own.)

How much data can be stored in the SmartWare PEN before I have to download it? The SmartWare PEN can hold between 200 - 300 pages of data. This is due to the fact that only PEN strokes are recorded.

How long can I use the SmartWare PEN before re-charging? Once the cap is removed, you may write continuously for 5 ½ hours before requiring a battery charge. Also, once the cap is removed from the PEN, it will run on standby with no writing activity for 14 hours before requiring a battery charge.

How do I charge the SmartWare PEN? The PEN is charged utilizing its docking cradle.

How long will it take to charge the SmartWare PEN? (If the battery is totally discharged, it will require 2 ½ hours to charge the PEN. It should, however, be put into the cradle every 3 – 4 days to maintain a reasonable power level.

If the battery should fail, can I replace it? NO (Do not attempt to replace the battery without contacting SmartWare East Technologies for assistance.)

Can I replace the ink cartridges? YES (Each SmartWare PEN comes with 3 replacement cartridges. Additional replacement cartridges are available. Contact us for details.)
